We are pleased to announce that our 49.9MW Grimsby Solar Farm has achieved commercial operation, marking another important milestone in the growth of our renewable energy portfolio and supporting our commitment to a more secure, flexible and low-carbon electricity system.
Located in North East Lincolnshire, Grimsby Solar Farm is our first project to incorporate a single-axis tracking system. The technology enables the solar panels to follow the sun throughout the day, helping to maximise energy generation from the site.
The project has also been designed to deliver a range of environmental benefits alongside renewable energy generation. More than 5 kilometres of new hedgerows have been planted across the site, while the remaining grass seeding is due to be completed shortly. Once established, the grassland will enable sheep grazing across the site.
With commercial operations now underway, a small amount of final snagging and testing remains to be completed. We expect to hand the site over to our Asset Management team in the coming months.
We would like to thank everyone involved in delivering Grimsby Solar Farm, as well as the local community for their continued patience and cooperation throughout the project.
We are also in the process of launching a community benefit fund for the local area and look forward to seeing how it can support local initiatives and make a positive contribution to the community.
Grimsby Solar Farm represents another step forward in our continued development of renewable energy infrastructure across the UK.
