We are pleased to announce that we have secured project financing for Horton Solar Farm; our fifth UK solar project to reach financial close in the past 14 months.
This brings our construction portfolio to 298 MWp with196 MWp already under construction, and a further two projects scheduled to be financed early next year.
2025 has been a defining year for us, taking our first projects into construction. Kemble Solar Farm was the first to enter construction in March, followed closely by Grimsby Solar Farm and Burtree LaneSolar Farm. A fourth project, Rayleigh Solar Farm, which secured financing inthe autumn, is scheduled to commence construction in January 2026, beginning with highway enabling works.
The 49.9 MWp Horton Solar Farm in East Devon received unanimous planning approval in June 2023. Once operational, the project will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 12,000 homes each year, avoiding over 11,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
As with all of our developments, Horton Solar Farm places a strong emphasis on environmental enhancement. The project will deliver new habitats for wildlife, including an orchard, extensive tree and hedgerow planting, and areas of wildflower meadow to support biodiversity. The project will also deliver local benefits, including a community benefit fund to support local initiatives over the lifetime of the solar farm.
Senior debt financing has once again been provided by Rabobank, which has partnered with Aura Power on all of its UK construction projects to date. Junior finance was provided by Investec plc.
Construction of Horton Solar Farm is scheduled to begin in May2026, starting with the delivery of three new site access points, before full-scale construction works commence. The project will be delivered by AuraPower’s EPC partner, ib vogt.
Simon Coulson, CEO of Aura Power, said:
“We are delighted to close the year with another major milestone. 2025 has been our most successful year yet, with five projects financed and three in construction. We will maintain this momentum into next year and expect two further projects to be financed in the first half of 2026.
Our focus remains on delivering these projects efficiently and considerately whilst supporting local priorities through our community benefitfunds. I would like to thank Rabobank and Investec for their continued support, as well as our in-house team and project partners.”
Aura Power was supported by Burges Salmon’s Banking and Finance team.
Paul Graafland, Associate Director at Rabobank, said:
“We’re thrilled to support Aura Power in bringing more solar energy to the UK grid with our fifth consecutive transaction together. As theUK accelerates its renewable transition, this solar PV project marks another step toward a cleaner, greener future — and we’re proud to play a role in financing it."
